Biography
S. Kalkan is an associate professor at the Dept. of Computer Engineering at METU (Turkey). He received his Ph.D. degree from the University of Gottingen (Germany). Dr. Kalkan’s current research interests include object detection, and imbalance problems and fairness in learning. Dr. Kalkan's work received the IEEE TCDS Outstanding Paper 2019 Award, the METU Thesis of the Year 2019 (with his student), and BAGEP Award of the Science Academy, Turkey. He serves as an associate editor at IEEE Robotics and Automation Letters and a member of the advisory board of TUBITAK International Collaborations Research Group.
