Biography

Dr. Uğur Balcı completed his PhD at the University of Glasgow, UK, based at the Scottish Universities Environmental Research Centre (SUERC). His PhD research focuses on the origin and evolution of mantle plumes using noble gas geochemistry of basaltic rocks from Iceland and Afar. In addition to his PhD research projects, he had also worked as a part-time noble gas mass spectrometry technician at SUERC for three years, where he analysed noble gas isotopes (He, Ne, Ar, Kr, and Xe) from gas samples in both commercial and collaborative projects. His expertise includes Isotope Geochemistry, Noble Gases, Mantle Geodynamics, and Geothermal Systems.
