General Information


Kursat Cinar earned his PhD in Political Science from the Ohio State University. His research interests center on party politics, democratization, development, and gender politics. He has published in journals such as Politics & Gender, Political Studies, Democratization, Social Politics, Political Science Quarterly as well as in the Sage Encyclopedia of Political Behavior. He has recently published a book titled "The Decline of Democracy in Turkey: A Comparative Study of Hegemonic Party Rule" by Routledge Press and edited a book titled "Women's Empowerment in Turkey and Beyond" by Routledge Press. Dr. Cinar is a Fulbright and EU Marie Curie Alumnus and Science Academy (Turkey) Young Scientist of the Year (BAGEP) laureate. He is currently an Associate Professor at METU, Department of Political Science & Public Administration.
