Özet:

This study aims to develop a test according to Curcio's (1987) three graph comprehension levels to assess 10th grade students' graph comprehension abilities by following Standards for Educational and Psychological Testing established by the American Educational Research Association (AERA et al., 2014) and then provide the validity evidence for the test based on test content and internal structure. Expert evaluation and developmental field testing were considered to provide evidence for the test content. The test was administered to 330 10th grade students in Ankara. Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) was used to analyze the data in order to provide the validity evidence based on internal structure. The McDonald's omega coefficient was calculated to assess reliability. The test (GCT) has six factors, named as one-step calculation at read between the data level, multi-step calculation at read between the data level, explicit data extraction at read the data level, extrapolation based on partial trend at read beyond the data level, implicit data extraction at read the data level, extrapolation based on holistic trend at read beyond the data level, and the reliability coefficient of the test was .90. The final test had 33 true-false items and demonstrated high reliability in addition to validity evidence based on the internal structure. This shows that the test scores are valid and reliable. As a result, this test is appropriate for use in assessing and interpreting students' graph comprehension abilities.
