Abstract:ABSTRACT DEVELOPMENT OF A TWO-DIMENSIONAL EULER SOLVER FOR UNSTRUCTURED GRIDS İsmail Hakkı Sezai M.Sc, Department of Mechanical Engineering Supervisor: Prof. Dr. M. Halûk Aksel December 2001, 133 Pages In this study, a Fortran code is developed to solve unsteady, compressible Euler equations using unstructured grids. Conservative form of the Euler equations are discretized on a finite volume basis with Roe's first order upwind scheme. Local time stepping is utilized in order to accelerate the algorithm. Also, four point Runge-Kutta method is used as time-marching algorithm in order to reach steady state solution 111Space discretization is performed by employing unstructured grids on solution domain. For unstructured grid generation a public domain code, Mesh2D, is used. The code is capable of generating two-dimensional unstructured grids via Delaunay triangulation. To test the solutions of developed code, the subsonic, transonic and supersonic channel flow over a Ni-bump is considered. As an external flow test case NACA0012 airfoil is investigated in subsonic, transonic and supersonic flows. Keywords: Euler Equations, Unstructured Grids, Finite Volume Method, Roe's First Order Upwind Scheme. IV
