Özet:In this study, cutting forces for robotic grinding processes with mounted bits are investigated. In the majority of the grinding literature, the grinding process is analyzed based on rigid grinding machines and larger size wheels. However, the robotic grinding systems involve small size tools. Therefore, currently there is a need to experimentally study the geometry and force relationships for mounted bits. In order to overcome some of the difficulties arising in grinding studies (e.g. need for dressing, cooling, etc.), cBN (cubic Boron Nitride) tools are utilized. Tangential and Normal forces for a given geometry during the operation are predicted as the outcome for use in robotic grinding operations. This predicting model is developed in a controlled environment -an experimental setup- which is specifically designed for measuring required system parameters for the model.
