Özet:

FMCW Radars are used in many applications including weather surveillance. Transmitting during the entire observation interval makes them efficient in terms of required power. They are also cheap and easy to implement. This study which was conducted as a master's thesis, is a radar system working at X band. In this system, 0.8 Watts continuous electromagnetic wave which is modulated with a frequency ramp of 30 MHz bandwidth is generated and radiated through the transmit antenna. The scattered signal from the targets (buildings, cars, and hydrometeors) is multiplied with the being transmitted one and a beat signal is obtained. As a result of this deramping process, the range information of a target is converted into the frequency domain. Obtained signal data is processed in MATLAB® after passing through an analog to digital converter. The range and velocity information of the targets are obtained by signal processing. Verification of the system is performed in a controlled environment with buildings and cars whose range and velocities are known. The system is finally used to calculate range of clouds and speed of wind while it is raining.
