Özet:A mass movement occurred along Km 21+200 – 21+730 (Tekir Region) of the Tarsus – Pozantı Motorway and vicinity especially due to the geomechanical properties of the units, and surface and groundwater effects. The purposes of this thesis study are to describe the geological-geotechnical characteristics of the landslide, to determine the geometry of the sliding mass and shear strength parameters, and to recommend an appropriate remediation method to provide stability. For fulfilling these purposes, in-situ site investigations (boreholes, inclinometer measurements, etc.) and laboratory tests were performed on the units of the Çukurbağ Formation (conglomerate, sandstone, siltstone and claystone), which forms the bedrock of the study area. In the light of the results of these investigations and test results, the shear strength parameters of the sliding mass were estimated at critical sections of the model by using the back analysis method. Furthermore, by applying limit equilibrium methods, slope stability analysis were performed for the static and dynamic (seismic) conditions. As a result of these studies, the most proper stabilization method (i.e., ground water level reduction, rock buttress application and relocation of the existing river) were deemed necessary the long term stability of the landslide. Four alternatives of rock buttress design were suggested. In addition, the slope stability analysis of the four alternatives of remediation design by using limit equilibrium were compared with respect to the cost of the construction through evaluating the results.
