Özet:The purpose of this study was to investigate private elementary school students’ attitude toward online homework in science lessons. More specifically, the purpose was to examine relationship between private elementary school students’ attitude toward online homework and their self-reported grade point average in science lesson. Furthermore, the difference among 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th grade levels, in terms of their scores on online homework attitude components as experience, usefulness and thought was examined. This study was conducted with private elementary school students in Çankaya, Ankara, Turkey by purposive sampling method. 669 elementary school students participated to the study. Attitude toward Online Homework Scale was developed by adapting two other researchers’ scales and administered to the participants. Data were analyzed by using descriptive and inferential statistics. In order to answer the first research question, descriptive information about the components of attitude was given. Correlational analysis was used to identify the relationship between each component of the attitude toward online homework and their self-reported grade point average in science lesson. Moreover, MANOVA was conducted to investigate the impact of grade level on attitude toward online homework of private elementary school students. The results revealed that private elementary school students’ self-reported grade point average in science lesson was correlated significantly with attitude toward online homework. According to the MANOVA results, the mean scores of 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th grade level students differ in three components of attitude, namely; thought, experience and usefulness in favor of 5th grade level students for each factor, significantly.
