Özet:In this study, an active flow control method is studied numerically by the application of synthetic jet over SD7003 airfoil. Steady and unsteady flows over the airfoil are computed by using a Navier-Stokes solver. k-ω SST turbulence model is employed for the investigation of the jet parameters at various angles of attacks and Reynolds numbers. The effect of the jet velocity and the jet angle are investigated to increase the lift to drag ratio. The jet slot size and the jet location are kept constant during the parametric study of the jet application. The parametric study has shown that the jet velocity is the dominant variable. Moreover, it is observed that the application of jet delays the flow separation on the suction side of the airfoil and increases the lift to drag ratio significantly at stall angles of attack. However, for attached flows, application of the jet is observed to be less effective. Unsteady flow conditions are employed in hover mode. The effect of zero-net-mass-flux, vertical translation, Reynolds number and the synthetic jet frequency are studied in figure-of-eight motion. In spite of steady state flow conditions, it is observed that the application of synthetic jet causes a slight decrease on mean lift to drag ratio. Increase of the vertical translation amplitude increases the picks and deeps on instantaneous aerodynamic forces. In addition, it is observed that the synthetic jet frequency do not alter significantly the instantaneous aerodynamic forces for the given figure-of-eight motion.
