Özet:In spite of the fact that they are not widespread in Turkey, 3D applications have been implemented in increasing numbers of archaeological activity around the world. These methods were introduced in archaeology due to mere intentions of three dimensional visualization and reconstruction in the beginning however they have recently started to become an important part of the scientific research with the development of technological and theoretical infrastructure of the field. It is now possible to digitally document excavation process and findings, to digitally handle the obtained information and to easily share the data with others. In this thesis, Image Based Modeling is discussed in detail due to the facts that it has unique characteristics making it applicable to almost any archaeological research and it can significantly contribute the scientific work in the processes of data recovering, interpretation and dissemination. It is critical that this approach should be, as soon as possible, adopted by Archaeology that needs to evolve into more collaborative, openly accessible, audience oriented state and multi-layered, multi-dimensional and questionable content in order to keep up with the change and improvement in the information exchange brought by new media.
