Özet:The question of poverty which is a result of capitalism is one of the biggest problems in the world and Turkey; and one of the best ways in order to understand the relation between dominant Islamist ideology and capitalism is to search how dominant Islamist ideology sees the question of poverty. This thesis, tries to explore how the question of poverty is encoded and how the poor is represented in Beşinci Boyut which is one of the Islamic TV series. In order to show that the role of Islamist discourse in the representation of the poor in Beşinci Boyut and the intersection points between Islamist discourse and capitalist ideology are examined. In that regard, it can be said that dominant Islamist ideology in Turkey is structured by capitalism while defining social, economic and political problems. While, Beşinci Boyut re-defines the question of poverty theologically; it is possible to say that this definition is an Islamic zed, naturalized and individualized version of the question of poverty which has many resemblances with the definition of poverty done by dominant ideology.
