Özet:

This thesis analyzes how gender issue has become a part of social theory and how women concerned urban studies become directive for real world urban policies and practices. The evolution of urban theories and feminist theories are handled separately after that gender sensitive urban studies are examined in a progressive way. The thesis also traces the differentiation of spatial mobility of women and women’s perceptions of space in the empirical part. There are several factors behind differentiated selections of space as easy access, power relations, social control and state policies. As a real world study, the spatial mobility of women in accordance to their closure to social cultural and sports facilities provided by three different municipalities namely Çankaya, Keçiören and Gölbaşı are studied. In order to seek the reason behind differential spatial mobility tissues of women, time geography, social construction of bodies and life courses concepts are evaluated with empirical work.
