Özet
With the upsurge of hybridity arising from global interconnectedness, teacher educator identities have been challenged, transformed, and (re)configured through border-crossing experiences. In relation to this evolving dialogue, this meta-synthesis sought to explore the multifaceted factors shaping transnational identities of language teacher educators (LTEs). Following PRISMA guidelines, this research reviewed 13 qualitative studies conducted on the identities of transnational LTEs within the last two decades. Through template analysis, three major themes emerged: contextual, socio-cultural, and personal factors. Instead of acting as static components, these three factors have a dynamic relationship, influencing the (re)construction of transnational identity and each other. The synthesis revealed a reliance on autoethnography as the research design. The United States is identified as a common transnational space for LTEs, which implies the need for research in different transnational contexts. Implications were presented for teacher education and further research.
