Özet
The Space Solar Energy (SSE) project is now turning into reality in the agenda of several organizations such as NASA in the USA and METI in Japan. Europe continues to lag behind its counterparts in this challenging, long-term science and technology development sector, which may have crucial global consequences on space transportation, and eventually, life on Earth. The main goal of this paper is to draw the attention of European organizations and companies active in the space transportation field to this topic, and to propose R and D roadmap in support of multidisciplinary system studies to give the European Community an opportunity to demonstrate its ability to establish large SSE systems in orbit. © 2003 Lister Science.
