Özet

Rockbursts are high-risk geomechanical events that threaten the safety and continuity of deep underground mining operations. This study investigates a rockburst that occurred in a deep cut-and-fill metallic mine in western Türkiye. The event followed a production blast and resulted in significant rock mass ejection around Level 917. Field observations and seismic monitoring data were used to validate numerical models developed using the finite element method. The initial simulation of the existing production sequence revealed critical stress concentrations, particularly near sharp stope boundaries. To explore mitigation strategies, two alternative production sequences were tested: both utilized primary and secondary stopes, with variations in stope dimensions. Results showed that sequencing plays a major role in managing excavation-induced stresses. The proposed approach mitigated the stress related violent failure risk. While increasing stope width offered marginal improvements in pillar stability during production, optimal sequencing proved more effective in reducing the burst risk. The findings emphasize the importance of integrating geomechanical analysis into early production planning to enhance operational safety and minimize the likelihood of dynamic failures in deep mining environments.
