Özet

The advent of printing press brought about significant improvement in the progressive accumulation of knowledge and advancement of civilization. The Age of Enlightenment of the 18th century, the Industrial Revolution in the 19th century, and 20th century scientific progress heavily depended on this new, effective form of writing. During the last century, with the new advanced computer technologies, printing press had a new turning point. Some of the first hand literature about the early development of Turkish printing press is originated from the West. The number of accessible documents in Turkey increased with the increase in the transcription of archived documents. The development of press and publication from the beginning of Ottoman Empire to Alphabet Reform in Turkey is addressed in this study.
