Abstract
The reliability of a numerical model is determined by its the least accurately known component. Such a component in fluid models of glow discharges is the description of electrons, which are far from equilibrium. This is especially the case in the near-cathode plasma of the negative glow (NG) with a weak (and even reverse) electric field, which is formed by the “external” ionizing factor, namely, an electron beam emitted from the cathode fall.
