Özet

© 2022, Associação Brasileira de Psicologia. The purpose of this study was to investigate the mediating role of emotion-focused coping on the association between perceived stress and emotional eating. A total of 711 university students recruited from two universities in Turkey completed self-reported questionnaires of Perceived Stress Scale (PSS), Coping Styles Inventory (CSI), Three Factor Eating Questionnaire (TFEQ—R21), and a demographic information form. Results of the simple mediational model by bootstrapping method showed a positive relationship between perceived stress and emotional eating. The findings of this study suggest that emotion-focused coping has a mediator role regarding the relationship between perceived stress and emotional eating solely among female participants.
