Özet

With the development of backscatter tag-to-tag communication, passive RFID tags can form networks, and the usage areas of tags are not limited to the identification or tracking of attached objects anymore. The communication range of the passive tags is bounded as a consequence of having no internal power sources. Therefore, multi-hop communication is required to connect passive tags that are not within the communication range of each other. In this paper, we propose a novel multi-hop routing protocol for tag-to-tag networks of stationary passive tags. We employ a sectoral circular area design by considering the communication ranges of the central controller and passive tags. To validate and test our solution, we developed a simulator where passive tags are distributed uniform randomly in a circular area. With the assistance of a central controller, sectors determined by the routing algorithm are excited, and multi-hop tag-to-tag communication is achieved. By considering the energy requirements of backscatter communication, the proposed routing protocol has provided an energy-efficient tag-to-tag communication among passive tags in a multi-hop fashion.
