Abstract

© 2019 IEEE.In this study, a double-loop resonant type dual-band quasi-Yagi microstrip antenna array is designed. The numerical and experimental analyses are done and the prototype is produced. The antenna array is fed by Binomial weighting to reduce the sidelobes. Operating frequencies are chosen as the free unlicensed Wi-Fi band (2.4-2.48 GHz) and one of the planned 5G band for Europe Zone (3.4-3.8 GHz). The main aim is to have a directive radiation pattern for the higher frequency band and an Omni-like radiation pattern for the lower frequency band. The antenna array is produced for smart houses applications in which indoor devices can be monitored by the operators via 5G, remotely. In the unit cell design, the larger rectangular loop stands for the lower frequency radiation and the smaller one is for the higher frequency band. The proposed design is validated by High Frequency Structure Simulator (HFSS) and also measurements are carried out on the proposed prototype.
