Özet

High altitude balloon platforms allow for the atmospheric environment to be probed and for technologies intended for space missions to be tested under near-space conditions. At METU-İVMER the YİB High Altitude Balloon Platform was designed to take atmospheric measurements up to 37 km altitude, track the payload along its flight path and for the payload to be recovered upon landing. The results from three maiden flights conducted between May 2024 and May 2025, YİB-0, YİB-1 and YİB-2, showed promise and were presented in a previous paper. Since then, the YİB platform was iteratively updated and has flown 6 more times in 2025. In this work, the mechanical, electronic, and software design improvements, as well as the performance results from the latest six flights, are discussed and near-space radiation data collected during the YİB-4 flight by scintillator detector payloads developed at METU-IVMER are presented. The results demonstrate that the YİB platform is a highly reliable, cost-effective testbed for maturing space technologies and conducting high-fidelity atmospheric research.
