Abstract

© 2021 IEEE.The rapid development of information technologies necessitates the use of high-speed network technologies. Software defined networking and network function virtualization are critical technologies for high-bandwidth, dynamically managed and cost-effective networks. Offloading network functions to the data plane and management of network service function chain (SFC) using data plane programming improve network performance. In this study, the framework that enables the management of service function chains from the data layer with P4 programming is proposed. The proposed framework can work in hybrid networks and allows SFC-unaware network functions to be used in SFC. In the study, a prototype has been developed for the proposed framework and the preliminary results of evaluations have been presented.
