The current book provides an extensive view of theoretical and methodological approaches in autobiographical memory research. Chapters in this volume elucidate research findings and theoretical ideas for various aspects of autobiographical memory development. At the same time, they bring out the gaps and limitations in our understanding of how children begin to form a memory of experienced events that are linked to their selves, and how as adults, our memory of our childhood is molded by our experiences and the context of reminiscing about these events. We discuss here a number of limitations and unanswered questions with the expectation and prediction that these will be topics of inquiry in the near future.
