Numerical simulation of hazardous material atmospheric dispersion following an accidental release in an industrial site

Özet
The results of numerical simulations of atmospheric dispersion of a hazardous material cloud following an accidental release in an industrial site near the city of Bourges (France) are presented. A library of solutions is generated corresponding to a grid of scenarios covering series of wind directions, wind velocity values, and diurnal/nocturnal conditions. Release scenario is chosen as an ethanol pool fire. The species released from the pool fire and having significant toxicity risks are chosen for dispersion simulations. The formation and lifetime of secondary species due to atmospheric chemistry (solar irradiation, presence of OH radicals) is also taken into account. The flow-field over the considered urban area and the dispersion (based on a lagrangian model) of the hazardous material is solved using QUIC dispersion model. Computations are performed for possible scenarios and separately for neighborhood and urban scale dispersion. A graphical interface is developed for the end users (the emergency responders).
