Özet

Abstract

Artificial intelligence (AI) is exponentially altering the existing paradigms in the educational landscape, resulting in major transformations in learning and teaching environments and teacher education programs. The paradigm shift through AI integration into the learning and teaching processes has generated both affordances as well as challenges. Although there is extensive research into the benefits and drawbacks of AI integration in teaching/learning processes pertinent to a particular domain of education such as language teacher education, this integration has not been thoroughly explored in education across diverse fields. This systematic review, encompassing studies conducted between 2022 and 2024, is an attempt to investigate AI integration into different fields of education with diverse learner profiles in 15 countries. The findings revealed that the affordances are mainly concerned with instructional practices, learner engagement and motivation, curriculum design processes, personalized learning support, as well as teachers' professional development. On the other hand, the challenges revolve around technological and pedagogical concerns, overreliance on AI, teacher readiness, and AI integration into curriculum.
