Özet

The present study aims to investigate 7th-grade gifted students’ performance in alternative types of linear and nonlinear proportional reasoning tasks, namely, missing value, numerical comparison, and qualitative problems. The participants of the present study were three 7th-grade gifted students who attended the Science and Art Center in İstanbul, Türkiye. The findings elucidated that gifted students’ performance differed in alternative types of proportional reasoning problems. Specifically, their performance was the highest in missing value problems, while they showed the poorest performance in qualitative problems. In terms of linear and nonlinear problem types, gifted students were more successful at nonlinear problems compared to linear ones.
