Aerodynamic performance of SD7062 airfoil in two-dimensional unsteady flows at high Reynolds number (Re approximate to 5 x 10(6)) has been investigated numerically for a wide range of angles of attack. The k-omega SST turbulence model is used to predict turbulent flow behaviour. Time-averaged aerodynamic coefficients of unsteady simulations are compared with the steady CFD solutions, and the discrepancies between the results are discussed. Laminar separation bubble parameters such as length, height of the separation bubble, and the separation and the reattachment points are evaluated based on the mean velocity streamlines, pressure and skin friction coefficients around SD7062 airfoil. Vortex patterns are classified into five different modes, but only three of them are observed in the analysed configurations. The study reveals that oscillation in aerodynamic coefficients and vortex shedding in the wake are observed above alpha = 19.5 degrees. Two-dimensional analyses are also compared with the three-dimensional analyses at various pre-and post-stall conditions.
