Özet

In computational fluid dynamics (CFD) studies, macro porous media modeling approach solves the Volume Averaged Reynolds Averaged Navier-Stokes (VARANS) equations to model the flow through mound breakwaters. Resistance parameters that emerge as a result of the volume averaging method need calibration in each study. These parameters significantly affect the free-surface elevation in front of the structure and wave overtopping values. In this study, overtopping of bichromatic wave series over a mound breakwater structure is numerically studied using a CFD code, OpenFOAM. In the first step of the study, the free-surface elevation results of the bichromatic wave series obtained from numerical simulations are compared with the physical model experimental data and the performance of the solver is evaluated. In the second step of the study, the resistance parameters are calibrated and the most appropriate values of these parameters are determined for different placement methods (closed pyramid, double pyramid and irregular) of the antifer units used in the armor layer of the structure. Existing physical model results are used during calibration studies.
