Lianidou and colleagues explore how female leaders in case studies can serve as role models of female leadership roles. Historically, women have been consistently underrepresented in leadership roles in organizations. This presentation focuses on female protagonists in various case studies and their inspirational role in encouraging other women to pursue leadership roles. They conducted a deep qualitative exploration using a diary method. They analyzed qualitative data of university students’ reactions to reading about female leadership case studies. They found that role model effectiveness is more facilitated by participant-protagonist similarities, story-telling, leadership lessons, and guidance for facing obstacles.
