Özet
Laminated glass plates are composite materials consisting of two or more isotropic glass plies bonded together by a polyvinyl butyral (PVB) interlayer. Due to the excellent adhesive properties of the PVB interlayer, these plates do not shatter or fragment upon impact. When properly designed, even if one glass ply fails, the remaining plies can continue to carry the applied loads. Because of these characteristics, laminated glass plays a crucial role in mitigating injuries and even fatalities caused by flying glass debris during natural disasters such as hurricanes and earthquakes, human-made events like bomb blasts, and civil disturbances. Consequently, laminated glass is widely used in numerous fields, including, but not limited to, aviation, civil applications, and railway transportation. This study investigates the mechanical behavior of laminated glass plate elements with a specific boundary condition: two opposite edges are simply supported, while the other two are free. The study involves experimental tests conducted on laminated glass specimens to examine their mechanical response under load.
