Abstract

On February 6, 2023, approximately 9 h apart, two earthquakes measuring 7.7 and 7.6 in magnitude (Mw) respectively occurred, centered around Pazarcık and Elbistan (Kahramanmaraş). These earthquakes resulted in loss of life and extensive damage, primarily in several provinces including Hatay, Kahramanmaraş, Adıyaman, Malatya, Adana, and Şanlıurfa. As a consequence of these earthquakes, the main ground and structural damages that occurred in the Gölbaşı district of Adıyaman were identified on-site and presented within this study. Field inspections revealed instances of liquefaction and ground acceleration amplification notably in the Gölbaşı district. Additionally, it was observed that buildings, retaining structures, slopes, and roads were affected by the seismic activities.
