This paper concentrates on identification of basic scattering mechanisms using ISAR imaging techniques with polarization information. An approach for generating synthetic target images from electromagnetic scattering measurements is described. Images of both geometrically simple and complicated targets using different linear polarizations are generated and compared. Different sets of colors are assigned to exploit the polarization dependence of the images. It has been shown that polarization is a useful tool for scattering mechanism identification with ISAR images. © 1994 IEEE
