Abstract

Little work appears to have been done to compare beach evaluation and rating systems in an objective manner. Many beach award/evaluation systems endeavour to guide beach users with regard to beach quality, but those currently (2000) in use in Europe are based on a small number of measurable parameters and do not approach coverage of all possible aspects of the topic.
