Abstract

Lithogeochemical reconnaissance sampling of prospects at Kursunlu and Orencik in western Turkey shows both have a similar and definite epithermal precious metal trace element signature. The geologic setting and prospect geology of Kursunlu is such that this geochemical pattern is expectable. The geology at Orencik, however, is very different with mineralization occurring in silicified zones along a flat undulating thrust fault within a melange terrain. Geochemical data, however, clearly show the epithermal nature of the Orencik mineralization.
