Özet

Calculation of the wind velocity is essential for evaluating weather conditions and determining the weather forecasts for a specific region. Knowing the weather conditions is significant for many industries, from fishing to mining. Current weather models rely on Earth observation satellites and high-altitude balloon flights to forecast the weather. High altitude balloons also rely on satellites to know their positions to be able to calculate wind speed. However, this relation between balloons and satellites causes the balloons to lose their position if they cannot receive signals from satellites. One of the most critical problems that effects balloon flights is Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS)-denied environments. In this paper, a GNSS-free approach to measure the wind speed using only LoRa modules is presented. This technique will allow weather models to forecast the weather in GNSS-denied environments.
