Özet

In this study a special finite element model of a multi-layered plate is developed using a layerwise approach. In the formulation, the adhesive layer, bonding the laminas, is modeled as a flexible layer capable of deforming in thickness and in shear directions. Linear Lagrange and conforming Hermite type interpolation functions are used to obtain the finite element model of multi-layered systems with or without piezoelectric layers. The effect of this formulation is investigated through a number of case studies. It is shown that response of the structure is sensitive to adhesive layer properties. It is also shown that a fine mesh is required when analyzing an electrically loaded piezoelectric patch to better represent the forces transmitted through the adhesive layer. The results are compared with the results found from solid model and good agreement is observed. Also presented are the stresses caused on a supporting plate by a piezoelectric patch.
