Abstract

Brains of mature and neonatal (P-3) rats were subjected to subcellular fractionation. Light membranes of P-3 contained more [3H]DAGO binding sites (40% of total μ sites vs 16% in adult) with greater sensitivity to GTP. Affinity labelling with [3H]DAGOCK revealed that the major subunit has a molecular weight of about 50 kDa in the synaptic as well as light membrane fractions.
