Özet

This study investigated the removal of chloridazon (CLZ) by the UV/H2O2 process. The effect of initial CLZ concentration, H2O2 concentration, initial pH, and the temperature was sought. The rate at which CLZ disappeared from the medium decreases as the initial CLZ concentration increases under the optimum operating conditions of 20 mg/L H2O2, initial pH 3, and 20°C, as such that 10 mg/L solution was completely treated in 15 minutes, whereas a 40 mg/L solution only reached 82% removal after 60 minutes. The reaction kinetics of CLZ degradation followed pseudo-first-order kinetics. The respective rate constants were 0.3049 min⁻¹ and 0.0311 min⁻¹. The multiple linear regression model achieved an R-squared value of 0.812, indicating that the independent variables accounted for 81.2% of the variance in CLZ removal. Desphenyl chloridazon and 5-hydroxyhydantion were the CLZ degradation by-products identified.
