Özet

Diplomatic relations between T & uuml;rkiye and Japan thus far have been based on three pillars: friendship diplomacy, imperial diplomacy, and economic diplomacy. This article has argued that, for the next 100 years, disaster prevention diplomacy and soft power diplomacy, which are Japan's strong points, should be further strengthened. Japan's disaster prevention technology is currently ahead of that of T & uuml;rkiye, while the two countries share the commonality of being earthquake-prone countries. Exporting this expertise, facilities, and equipment to T & uuml;rkiye would be beneficial as it would strengthen T & uuml;rkiye's crisis management. In addition, many Japanese novels and manga have already been translated into Turkish, and Japan's soft power has already been established in Turkey to a significant extent. In these fields, human resources for Japanese translation are already being developed, and further development can be expected. The 100th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries can be said to be a good opportunity to consider further strengthening bilateral relations.
