Özet

Diamond and other valuable particle embedded composite cutting tools can be produced by different techniques according to its area of utilization. Co, Ni, Ti and W metals are used as binder while Cu, Sn, brass and bronze used as filler in the manufacturing above mentioned cutting tools. About 20 % of composite cutting tools are not consumed when they are discarded. Current recycling processes contribute recovery of diamond and abrasive parts by filtration, after acid dissolution. Besides diamond, metallic constituents can be recovered by electrochemical dissolution and deposition of waste diamond cutting tools in relatively weaker acidic electrolytes. While hard particles sink to the bottom of electrolyte, metallic parts can be collected as powders at the cathode when power is applied under certain conditions. Temperature, current density, acid and CuSO4 concentrations of electrolytes were the process parameters to optimize microstructure, density and surface area of metallic powders.
