Abstract

The existence of a bound state of five quarks with (c) over bar content is still controversial. In this paper we focus on weakly decaying charmed pentaquarks and show how they can be searched for in high energy antineutrino interactions. By analyzing 2262 charged-current interactions with a muon of positive charge in the CHORUS detector, we performed a search for Theta(0)(c) production. Based on the null observation, the limit of Theta(0)(c) production is found as a function of different Theta(0)(c) lifetimes. The tightest bound is sigma(Theta c 0)/sigma((nu) over bar) < 0.039 at 90% C.L. for Theta(0)(c) lifetime equal to 0.5 tau(D)0. We outline also the excellent potentiality of such a search at a neutrino factory with an emulsion detector. (C) 2006 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
