Özet

Solvent use is ubiquitous in the chemical industry. While the most common solvent is water, a diverse range of solvents with different properties according to need are used in different processes. The energy cost of using fresh solvent in a process makes the practice of solvent recovery and reuse a necessity, regarding both economics and green metrics. Distillation is the most established and widely practiced process for solvent recovery. Membrane technologies such as nanofiltration, reverse osmosis and pervaporation are emerging alternatives with significantly lower energy consumption.
