Özet
This paper presents a unified density-based method for estimating formation properties and pore volume (or original/contacted gas in place) using variable-rate and bottomhole pressure data exhibiting transient and/or boundary-dominated flow regimes in unfractured wells or multistage hydraulically fractured conventional and unconventional dry gas reservoirs. Unlike conventional flowing material balance methods (FBMs)based on pseudopressure and pseudotime functions, the proposed approach simplifies single- and multi-well analysis by avoiding flow-regime-dependent superposition functions and iterative reservoir pressure estimates. The unified framework applies a mass-rate-normalized density function versus material balance time to identify transient flow regimes and boundary-dominated flow on log-log plots. For multi-well systems, a pseudowell approach combines individual well responses into an equivalent pseudowell to estimate parameters of interest. Monotonic ordering and least absolute value (LAV) regression are employed to address noisy BHP and rate data. The method is validated on synthetic and field single- and multi-well gas data sets and compared against conventional FMB-based approaches. Results demonstrate that the proposed method offers a faster, simpler, and comparably accurate alternative to conventional methods, with estimated parameters agreeing with the results those from conventional FMB-based approaches.
