Özet

The Göksu Archaeological Project carried out survey work north of Mut at Alahan between 2002 and 2006, including examination of the modern village of Alahan in detail. This study revealed a small urban site, perhaps a city, protected by a wall with protruding towers. Three churches stood in the walled area and perhaps another in the necropolis. The ceramics at the site date to periods between the late Hellenistic era and the medieval period, though most are from the late Roman period. The architecture, on the other hand, is mostly 5th and 6th century, though some 2nd- or 3 rd-century sarcophagi were found.
