Abstract

This paper presents a novel design approach for ultrawideband shared aperture connected dipole array lattice consists of the low/high-band dipole array elements. The EM transparency has been provided by applying effective choking technique realized on dielectric substrate hosting the low band dipole. For this purpose, a previously developed equivalent circuit approach has been used. The only full wave input for this approach is the standalone high band simulation. The lattice consists of one low-band dipole and 4 × 4 high band dipoles of tightly coupled dipole elements (TCDE). The lattice achieves 24.9:1 BW under VSWR<2.5 and a profile height of 0.097 ?L, where ?L denotes the free-space wavelength at the lowest operating frequency.
