Abstract

This paper focuses primarily on the impact of phase-locked-loop (PLL) in grid-forming control on power system oscillations and their participation levels. It highlights the determination of PLL parameter ranges for ensuring system stability. Among various grid-forming control strategies, particular attention is given to the virtual synchronous generator (VSG) control. The 4-machine 2-area system is employed for implementing the VSG. Modal analysis is performed to evaluate PLL's influence on various oscillation modes, contributing to a deeper understanding of grid-forming control dynamics and stability.
