We have gone through significant changes in
every area of our lives in the last decades due to the social, economic and
technological advances in the world. This reality is transforming the way we
work, the way we live and the way we learn. As the educational and learning
needs change at all levels in this transformation process, the educational
expectations are increasing and changing, making it necessary for the
individuals to gain the 21st century skills. In this connection, this paper
will discuss the digital transformation of education and foreign language
education by focusing on the following questions:
What will be different in the age of
industry 4.0 in terms of language learning and teaching practices?
How will the roles and responsibilities of
learners and teachers change?
What could be the benefits and challenges of
digital transformation for our field?
