Vaporization in three-dimensional droplet arrays: Effects of the fuel vapor saturation

Özet

The droplet vaporization process is of interest in energetic systems such as diesel and rocket engines, in which the fuel is supplied as a spray of droplets. During the combustion of the fuel, the droplets at the center of the spray are affected by the flame as a heat source and they vaporize without burning individually. Within the spray, the influence of neighboring droplets is of primary importance because the temperature and composition of the surrounding gas are locally modified. This paper presents recent results and displays the real impact of the vapor saturation on the vaporization rate of one central droplet surrounded by eight droplets, in a centered cubic network.
