As some organizations become larger and grow with respect to size, they aim to centralize their IT governance to improve relevant effectiveness and efficiency. However, it is still not fully clear whether this kind of transaction and transformation is firmly meaningful or not. In our research, we questioned the realized benefits of centralization of IT governance. For this purpose, we conducted semi-structured interviews with 11 senior people in a large technology organization. The collected data were analyzed via quasi-statistics, and the findings were elaborated. Our initial results showed that categorical complete centralization and decentralization are not a good solution. High-level centralization with some tailoring options for each business unit, the hybrid way, seems to be better with respect to the views of the senior professionals. Managerial implications and future steps for our initial exploration are also discussed in the paper. This paper is going to be beneficial for professionals and scholars interested in IT governance.
